SHOT/CHASER: CA Budget Edition

Math is hard. Just ask Gavin Newsom. Yet that didn’t stop him from defiantly scolding California press last month for reporting on an expected $68 billion budget deficit, according to California’s nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office, when he thought it was actually $30 billion lower:

SHASER:

In his defense, it now looks like the $68 billion projection wasn’t right. It was actually too small.

For those of you who are better at math than Gavin Newsom, you’ll notice that this is nearly DOUBLE the state budget deficit that Newsom announced. That’s quite the drop from the record nearly $100 billion budget surplus California experienced just two years ago.

“Despite his self-righteous proclamation that he’d only dragged California to a $38 billion budget deficit, it seems the Gavin Math just isn’t mathing. Countless Democrat policy failures have consequences, and today that comes in the form of a record $73 billion budget deficit.” – CAGOP Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson
