SACRAMENTO — Today, California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson issued the following statement on Gavin Newsom’s gas tax increase: 

“Gavin Newsom just made living in California even more expensive by raising California’s gas tax once again while refusing California Republicans’ calls to suspend it. Californians continue to pay the highest gas prices and endure some of the worst roads in the nation. Although California is rich in natural resources that could lower energy costs, he refuses to let that happen. It’s clear Newsom has no interest in actually helping Californians and is mentally checked out from the state he was elected to govern — instead, salivating at the chance to fail up to replace Joe Biden in the White House.”
