SACRAMENTO — Today, California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson issued the following statement on the confirmation hearing of U.S. Secretary of Labor nominee Julie Su: 

“Today’s confirmation hearing highlighted the disastrous record of President Biden’s nominee for U.S. Labor Secretary, Julie Su. As California’s Labor Secretary, she oversaw the unemployment insurance debacle that resulted in over $30 billion dollars in taxpayer money being doled out to fraudsters, including prison inmates,  while desperately-needed payments to struggling Californians were frustratingly delayed. She waged a war against independent contractors that would destroy their livelihoods. To recklessly give Julie Su a promotion on the national stage would be a slap in the face to the Californians who suffered under her failed tenure. California has already faced the consequences of Su’s incompetence. There’s no need to inflict the same damage on the rest of the nation.”
