California Democrats' Election Interference

California Democrats are no strangers to underhanded tricks to get their way, but they may have finally outdone themselves. They are sabotaging important legislation that will fight back against California’s crime wave all so that they can save the ill-conceived and disastrous Prop. 47.

Democrats plan to attach poison pill amendments on a package of bipartisan public safety bills that stipulate that many of the impactful laws will be revoked if a certain ballot initiative, the Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act, is passed by voters. The ballot initiative will, in part, make critical and needed adjustments to Prop. 47.

Why would they do that? Well, California Democrats refuse to address the unintended consequences of Prop 47 that are causing an explosion in crime. They are hoping to confuse voters by sending the message that supporting this initiative will mean the end of important public safety legislation and will, therefore, have the adverse effect of making them less safe. These amendments are a poison pill, intended to interfere with an election and steer voters away from a critical ballot initiative or pressure “the measure’s backers to drop it from the ballot” entirely.

Democrats will tell you these poison pills are simply a way to avoid conflicting language. If that’s the case, will they share what those conflicts are? Nope.

SIDE NOTE: We see you there, DUI Dave Min… A press conference claiming support for public safety? Really??

So where’s Gavin Newsom on all this? He can’t comment on Democrat election interference efforts regarding these poison pills because he would prefer to interfere with the same ballot initiative by keeping it off of the ballot all together, despite it having already collected more than 900,000 signatures from California voters.

“This dirty, underhanded, deceptive maneuvering from California Democrats will do a disservice to voters and will undermine the integrity of our elections. Legislative Republicans are right to oppose these poison pill amendments, and all California Democrats should follow their lead by putting public safety over party politics. We’re looking at you, Sabrina Cervantes, Jacqui Irwin, Corey Jackson, Pilar Schiavo, Esmeralda Soria, Sharon Quirk-Silva, Josh Newman, and DUI Dave Min.” - Jessica Millan Patterson, presidenta del CAGOP
